It had a smaller country town vibe - and as we walked around in the evenings, in some ways it reminded me of Bundaberg! We only stayed for a couple of days but met some of the friendliest people there, out of the last couple of weeks. On our first afternoon we were walking through the grounds of a school - I thought we were trespassing and might get told to leave - when a monk invited us into a temple and led us through a prayer. It was a bit comical, as Simon and I had to repeat what the monk (who's nickname was Teera ;-) ) said and each time we would say something totally different from both him and each other...obviously not on purpose but because the Thai language can be so difficult to mimic after the first listen and usually takes a couple of back and forths.... So I was trying my hardest not to laugh in what I guess was a pretty sensitive situation but the giggles came out... Anyway Teera wanted to practice his English so Sime and I sat around for a while chatting about Thailand and Australia with him and a trainee monk (nick)named 'Donut'. Donut would occasionally forget his training and got slightly in trouble for handing me a book, which is not allowed (it must first be put down so I can pick it up). We've exchanged ...
